With a size of only 9.6 x 14.0 x 1.95mm the UC430 is extremely well suited for applications with space restrictions. The small size including embedded antenna combined with the robustness of SiRFstarIV receiver as well as Fastrax design expertise makes UC430 an unbeatable choice for any GPS application.

Description:
If you want to add GPS to your next project, but simply don't have the space for that huge ceramic antenna, the Faxtrax UC430 (48 channel GPS module) is the perfect choice for you!  The module measures 9.6x14.0 mm and supports basic serial output!

The module also supports optional SPI (slave) or I2C and DR_I2C bus for external EEPROM and MEMS sensors to aid in static/moving detection. It comes with a built-in ceramic antenna and required minimal connections to a microcontroller to get you started. The module requires a 1.8v power supply, but the input pins are 3.3V tolerant so it will easily interface with a 3.3V board, but will need level shifting to work with any 5V boards.

We know it is a bit intimidating to solder SMD modules like this one, so we will be releasing a breakout board for this module soon!

Features:

  • Extremely tiny form factor 9.6 x 14.0 x 1.95 mm
  • Low power consumption: 68 mW @ 1.8 V
  • Low power modes including SiRFAware
  • Only 125uA in average consumption
  • Ultra High Sensitivity with SiRFStar IV:
    • 147dBm (Cold Start Acquisition)
    • 163 dBm (Tracking)
  • Host port configurable either UART, SPI (slave)
    or I2C
  • NMEA protocol, switchable to OSP binary
  • SBAS/WAAS support
  • AGPS Support
  • EEPROM 64 or 128kB for CGEE or
    patch storage
  • Supported Accelerometer Kionix KXTF9
  • Supported Magnetometer Aichi AMI304
  • 1PPS output
