...where a bunch of geeks got together to make other people's ideas come to life.
This credit-card sized RFID/NFC card can be used in multiple situations where a read-card is needed; such as employee access, public transport passes, and in payment situations where a reader is available.
Both RFID and NFC are wireless technologies used for tracking, tagging, and replacing barcodes. RFID works with an antenna and a memory chip and can only be used in one-way communications. NFC is a much more advanced technology and can be set up for use in one- and two-way communications. RFID tags are used in credit cards, pet GPS tracking chips used by veterinarians, and in employee identification cards that allow access to certain areas only.
One-way NFC communication is used in movie posters, event flyers, and other promotions, which allows the viewer to get more information about the product or event. Two-way NFC communication is gaining more popularity by the day: it is currently being used in cell phones to allow digital wallet payments and information transfer from cell to cell.
