Jaycon Systems will serve as an official host for the national InnovateHER: ideas that impact women and families challenge, an initiative that serves to empower the lives of women and families during National Small Business Week.
InnovateHER is a showcase that has been adapted as part of the Space Coast PitchSeries hosted by Jaycon on Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. and is co-sponsored by the Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech. Attendees will select one local winner as a state finalist who, if selected by the U.S. Small Business Association committee, will compete for awards and prize money totaling $30,000 during National Small Business Week, May 4–8, 2015, in Washington, D.C. This is a great opportunity to network and gain exposure at a nation-wide event that’s co-sponsored by Microsoft.
Competition criteria: Product or service must have a measurable impact on the lives of women and families (30% judging criteria); have the potential for commercialization (40%) and fill a need in the marketplace (30%). Applicants must be a us citizen at least 19 years old and must be incorporated in the US. InnovateHER applicants can be any gender, whole teams of innovators are also welcome to apply.
Applicants, per the request of the U.S. Small Business Association, are required to submit a business plan as part of the application process. Business plans can be submitted to email@example.com. Deadline: Monday, March 23rd at midnight.
Applicants to InnovateHER will receive an acceptance e-mail by March 25 at noon and present their 60 second pitch on Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. Those who receive a declination letter will be encouraged to attend the event to gain exposure to InnovateHER know-how and networks.
Individuals who do not have ideas that impact women and families are encouraged to take part in a second showcase that same evening, a pitch competition where innovators compete for the most ‘People’s Choice’ votes. Innovators with the overall highest tally will take part in the PitchChallenge May 01, where one winner will walk away with more than $1000 in funding.
The $1000 award pool is comprised of $100 donations made by the competition’s 10 judges, people who are committed to growing the startup ecosystem in the Space Coast. The award pool continues to grow, as matching funds are being requested from private and corporate organizations in the area who have also made the commitment to make the Space Coast more of a place where moonshot ideas become realities.
Official eligibility for PitchChallenge will be announced the PitchSeries Leaders in Innovation during the April 24 PitchPrep event.
The Space Coast PitchSeries is powered by Jaycon Systems, a team of tech experts who design and manufacture innovative ideas and who have consulted for more than 10 Kickstarter projects grossing more than $1.5 million.
