This is our Lithium Ion/Polymer battery charger based around Microchip's MCP73871. The MCP73871 device is a fully integrated linear solution for system load sharing and Li-Ion / Li-Polymer battery charge management with ac-dc wall adapter and USB port power sources selection. It’s also capable of autonomous power source selection between input or battery. The board has a footprint for a large 4700uf incase the power source needs to be stabilized (like a solar cell).
The board has a selectable solder jumper to set the charge rate at 500mA or 1000mA, but an optional through hole resistor can be soldered to set this charger to your desired setting. It also comes with the option to wire up a 10K NTC temperature sensor to monitor battery temperature, but we will provide a 10K resistor instead to disable this feature.
