This is a 3 axis digital Magnetometer breakout board based on the HMC5883 from Honeywell's. It uses an I2C interface with an input voltage range of 2.16 to 3.6 volts. This breakout board makes it easy to develop using the compass since you wont have to solder this tiny IC! The board can be used with an external microcontroller to create a digital compass or a tilt compensated compass when paired with a 3 axis accelerometer!
Digital compasses are also widely used to compensate for yaw drift in RC helicopters and head holding gyros where GPS modules dont work well.
Note: There is a mistake on the silkscreen. SDA and SCL are flipped on our version of this board. This was corrected by a little vinyl sticker that we have printed for this board. This mistake has no effect on the functionality of this board so we will be selling these at a discounted price till a new version is made.
